Bangladesh - the next adventure

It has been a long time between drinks, but we are back.

Jeanette & I are heading off to Bangladesh in a little over a month, for a 6 month sojourn as volunteers working with a Bangladeshi NGO called Symbiosis. This is something we have talked about for most of our lives together and finally the talk is finished and we are actually doing it.

It seemed like a good time to do it, the kids have left home ... etc. We thought we might be able to sneak it in before any grandchildren arrived, but Jo & Sim were too quick and we will be leaving behind a 2 week old grandchild! :(

Jeanette will be teaching English to some of the Symbiosis staff and using her teaching training & experience to enhance their skills in those areas.

I will be doing what I do best (ie - I find out when I get there and work it out on the spot!), although it will involve continuing a Vocational IT project, a Fish Farming project, alternative ways of coping with the price of energy in a GreenHouse Gas constrained world, & maintenance issues of plant & vehicles. They had an odd mix of needs, and I had an odd mix of skills - which matched!

I am trying to get the house ready for tenants before we leave, and have almost finished the new en-suite. I'll post some photos next time.

Cheers for now, thanks for dropping by.
